  • Guide to Riding V-Twins for the Inseam Impaired

Do you long to hit the road on a big V-Twin Harley-Davidson®, but think the bike may be a bit big for you? At over 800 pounds, large tourers and cruisers can be intimidating for anyone, much less somebody who is smaller in stature or mobility impaired. But does that mean you need to forget about your dream bike? In a word – no.

Motorcycles are designed for an average rider weighing in at about 179 pounds and standing just under six feet tall. Statistically, for this rider to be considered the average, we know there must be many people who are both larger and smaller who enjoy riding. Plus, as riders age they shrink – Men can lose an inch between age 30 and 70 and women can lose two inches. Despite this mathematical reality, manufacturers often miss the mark when it comes to the fine balance between affordability and inclusivity; providing ride quality and proper seat height for the broad size range of riders has historically proven to be a challenge in motorcycle design.

Whether you’re an older, smaller, or mobility-impaired rider doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the thrill of riding big V-Twin touring bikes or cruisers with confidence - especially while stopped or parking. While there are multiple ways you can lower your seat such as lowering links, shorter shocks, shaved seats and thicker boots souls, most include both advantages and challenges regarding safety, handling, comfort and ride quality. Choosing the right bike, utilizing the appropriate clothing and bike accessories, and upgrading to air suspension can all bring your ride experience to the next level. Continue reading

Arnott Ultimate Ride Kit for the 2001-2017 Honda Gold Wing GL1800 and FS6 has been Lowered to $1,249.

Arnott's adjustable Air Suspension System for the Gold Wing is custom-designed for the 5th Generation Gold Wing frame to provide 'Wingers' with superior control, ride comfort and height adjustability. The kit, featuring Arnott's TruAIR Technology, replaces the stock shock, hydraulic preload adjuster and problematic rubber lines to provide superior comfort when carrying a passenger or heavy load, reduced bottoming and smoother bumps and the ability to adjust the shock through it's full 2.16" of travel (13.14" max, 10.98" min.)

At the core of this patented system is a custom FOX® nitrogen charged shock absorber with an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) for a better ride and a rugged Goodyear air spring designed to provide superior comfort, height adjustability, and durability. Arnott pairs the shock with a small but powerful compressor, custom mounting bracket for the Gold Wing, and air distribution valve block with muffler to control how fast air is released.

  • Arnott® Releases Extended Shock Kit for '09-'18 Custom Bagger H-D® Touring Models

Arnott Cycles has released MC-2994 - a Smooth Ride Kit with longer shocks for 2009 to 2018 H-D Touring Models with extended saddle bags. The new shock kit, which retails for just $649, features longer 14" shocks that offer an extra inch of clearance so custom baggers with aftermarket stretched bags won't scrape while turning corners. Aftermarket stretched saddle bags can easily scrape the ground at the stock ride height during turns.

With an Extra Inch MC-2994 Enables Custom H-D Baggers to Make Turns Without Scrapping Their Aftermarket Extended Saddle Bags

Everything Needed For A Fast, Flawless Install

Arnott pairs the 14" shocks with a small but powerful compressor, custom-designed mounting bracket which will not interfere with most aftermarket bags, micro-toggle switch (optional handlebar mounted switch and switch with LED pressure gauge available), and proprietary air distribution valve block which includes a muffler to control how fast air is released.
